The sun was popping today 5-10-24

Thanks Jim. I tried the ASI 533mc with the Lunt and it didn't do well. You need a mono camera to get thje best shots and add false color in a photo editing software.

The sun was popping today 5-10-24

I couldn't pass up taking a shot of the sun today. I think that is one of the largest prominences I've seen so far. I used the Lunt 60 with the ASI 1600mm camera.

The winter here is like June to October in Florida, nothing but clouds at night. we are adjusting with everything else. It is refreshing to have the seasons again. I wish I would have moved here sooner. I get out almost every day for hiking and birding, I check the radar and go where there is no...

The Iris Nebula from the Oregon Dark Sky Sanctuary

Nice shot Andy, I can't wait to get out to some dark sites in Oregon. I have a good suggestion for mosquitoes, coming from Florida I know mosquitoes, try Thermacell. I used it at the edge of the Everglades and it works. My backyard was also horrible but once I put it on it takes about 15...

    Sun 3/17-3/18

Thanks Mike, I had a few nights to image this winter but I couldn't think of anything to image, I think I got everything I want to image. I live in a too light polluted place to image galaxies without spending 20 hours on one shot. I couldn't get a good shot of the planets living here in Oregon...

    Sun 3/17-3/18

Thanks Jim, I had to brighten the background area on the second one to show some of the prominences. The filter does not need much adjusting at least on my scope.

    Sun 3/17-3/18

Thank you Alan, what is nice about taking shots of the sun is that you don't need to take long exposures so the sun could peek through and you can get a shot.

    Sun 3/17-3/18

It's been a while since I imaged anything astro. I would look at the sun, moon and planets every chance I got but just got lazy to do any astrophotography. I think I'm ready to start imaging again. I did try Jupiter and Saturn this year but the seeing in Oregon is nowhere near the seeing I got...

    AstroPhotography Tools and Helps

I've taken almost every object of interest in the Northern hemishere so I decided to join Telescope Live to get some shots from the south. I'm also tired of the sky glow from the lights and moisture in the air that Florida has to offer, It is great for planetary and solar imaging but horrible...
