Not sure what what what else to say about this one. This hippo simply walked out of the lake and posed on a grassy hill with a nice background. So I took a picture.
On our first day in the Mara we found a pride of lions feeding on a recent hippo kill. Hidden in the bushes, and occasionally making an appearance for a few nibbles, were 4 small lion cubs. Between the crowd of vehicles and the long grass it was impossible to really get any compelling photos of...
I have a few new bird photos from my recent trip to Kenya. For this one I took advantage of the pre-capture function in the R5II to finally capture a lilac-breasted roller taking off.
Africa tends to have a lot of nice red sunrises and sunsets. Usually we'd try to find a nice tree to place in front of the sun, but on our last night we were hanging around a herd of elephants a little before sunset. It was fun directing our guide to move forwards and backwards to try isolating...
Another goal for my recent trip to Kenya was to be able to see some rhinoceros in the wild. We spent two days at Lake Nakuru national park, which is know to have populations of both black and white rhinos. We saw a pair of white rhinos on our way into the park (pictures from that coming later)...

I had an evening as a bachelor tonight and saw that clear skies were forecast in Big Sur. That left me no choice but to drive down the coast and look for stars. A little research showed that a crescent moon would be setting at about 10:40 - the same time that astronomical twilight would end and...
Excellent execution as always. Great location for this! Really nice to have the full arc in the sky. I think I'd also like to see a crop with just the right side filling the sky with the core over that foreground.
Some different rocks...
1) Tenaya LakeSunset - these little rocks always seem to find their way into my Tenaya Lake photos. In this case, I wish they weren't so centered, but the rest of the composition works for me so I am living with it. You could also say that there are some really big rocks...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
