Winged Wednesday 9/18/19

For the eleventh “Winged Wednesday,” I have selected some honeybees finding nectar on a red yucca. That’s not the whole story. They’re drinking sugar water I put in the flowers to attract hummingbirds. This is a multi-flash photo using 5 flashes at 1/64th powers suppling a light burst of around 1/24,00th of a second. (Sweat Bee, Agapostemon virescens, bicolored agapostemon)

The second photo is a small sweat bee. These metallic colored bees are great pollinators. (Sweat Bee, Agapostemon virescens)

The third photo is a Cuckoo Wasp. Also, a beautiful metallic green. This tiny thing is about 2mm long and photographed with a 65mm macro lens and twin flash. Family Chrysididae (Cuckoo Wasps)

Is there a theme? I am trying to follow Eric's lead with a bug!

The weird thing about this picture is that the dragonfly was way out mid-lake at Warner Lake, and I cropped quite a bit. Yet the D800E and 300mm f/4 with 1.7tc caught it perfectly. Not sure how that happened. That early D800E was a great body for details.
