Dead tree Sunset

The sun stars almost seem to reach out to the lit spots in the foreground. Its a big chunk of empty space up and to the right but it works anyway.

Yes, lack of interesting clouds almost made me not post this. I thought about cropping from the top, but then I would lose the tree.

Hey Stephen,

That is a nice one. And yeah, that sunstar is pretty crazy! I had looked a bit at the Loxia 12 as I was looking to add another WA to my night time shooting. In the end, I went with the Sigma 14mm f1.8. I got it a month ago an totally love shooting stars at f1.8.

One this I like it as it is, the negative space doesn't bother my eyes in this. There is enough color and the sunstar to keep the eyes visually engaged.

Sorry Jim, I had a typo. I fixed it now. It is a Loxia 21 not 12! For UWA, I use the Sony 12-24. The zoom is sharper than the Voigtlander 12/5.6 I previously used but the Voigtlander has much nicer sun stars.

Interesting shot. It would be easy with this one to take out the rule book and nitpick (sun/horizon dead center, not much of interest in the top right, etc.) but the result for me is that this works.
