Havasu Falls (+Extras)

This was my favorite shot from my photographic pilgrimage to Havasupai. When we arrived at the falls, the pool was filled with kids swimming and enjoying the scene. When I went back at sunset to photograph them, my friends and I just had to share with one other person. Plenty of room to walk around the terraces and look for compositions.

That is a place I wish I had visited in my younger years, its just amazing and you have presented a very colorful version of it.

You can still go there, Ben. I t is a long eight mile hike in but a short helicopter ride. You do have to plan a long time ahead especially if you want to be there in the fall.

Nice scene Kyle - I have always loved the turquoise waters of the falls there.

I did go there on a high school trip in the mid 60's. We rode horseback into the village and camped out while we were there. My memories of that excursion are more than slightly faded at this point although I do have some images from my old twin lens reflex I had at the time.

Stunning Image Kyle, I really like the Color in the Water and how it goes so well with the Red Rocks
and the silky water of the Falls is very pleasing !!!

Take Care,

Craig

Very nice, Kyle! I do wish that you had rotated your camera just a bit more to the right to get a bit more of the water in the foreground, though.

Thanks everyone!

And you found a good one. Did you take this recently?
This was several years ago. I would like to see how the terraces are recovering from the floods a couple years before that.

Thanks Monika. If I recall correctly there were some things just out of frame I was trying to avoid. Likely including the fallen tree you can see in the landscape shot below.

I don't mind fallen trees in my images - as long as they don't have a square end cut by a chain saw. Those I avoid like the plague or figure out ways to clone/mask the cut end.
