Nice contrasts with the light you captured here. Sad to see the modern additions but somewhat expected with the proximity of these panels to Las Vegas.

It's interesting to me that they seem to be rubbing through the oxidation layer to a lighter color below. But why doesen't it re-oxidize? Or is the process that slow?

Yes the oxidation is quite slow but the fact that oxidation will continue on the whole rock face means that even when the petroglyph does acquire a darker color the rest of the rock wall will also be darker and the petroglyph will still be visible.

If you have been there at this location, they actually have a fence up to try and stop people from being able to write on the wall as the panel is rather huge. Clearly it hasn't stopped all of the idiots, or some of that could have been from before they installed that fencing.
