Mossy stairs in the Portland Japanese Garden. I have always liked these stairs but getting the right light in the right season is pretty much hit and miss.

Thanks Michael - late spring seems to bring out the best of this part of the garden grounds. I think a cloudy day would help to tame the direct sunlight on the vegetation behind and above this scene.

Thanks Jim - this is actually from my first visit to the Japanese Garden back in 2008. I had to crop down the top of this scene given too much direct sunlight at the very top.
