The Celestial Fence - Northern Lights

I am going a dozen different directions, but I wanted to go back to that awesome, best display of 2025 Northern Lights I captured in Wyoming last month.

This is from the Nikon D850 that is still a workhorse of a camera. It's permanently paired now to the Sigma 14mm f1.8 lens, and it's sole purpose in life is to capture the Milky Way and the Night sky.

As much as I loved the windmill, I wanted a camera capturing just the Northern Lights themselves. And this kind of looks like a Celestial Fence.

This was:

ISO 2000
5 secs
f1.8

All comments are welcome,

Jim

I like this better as a shot with bare hills and the aurora. Makes me focus more on the aurora instead of the foreground.

Beautiful image of the Northern Lights, Jim. I like the well-rendered, colorful foreground, it gives the photo a better realism, but it doesn't take away from my perception of the Northern Lights - and the Northern Lights are absolutely fantastic!
Very nice work, Jim.

Thanks Alan, I am glad I ran out away from the Windmill to set those up. I still really like the windmill, but I also did have that thought that the windmill could also distract, so I am glad I thought that in the heat of the moment.

I really appreciate that Peter. The hills worked well.
