Willow River Falls

A couple of days late for Alan's Waterfall Wednesday, though I think I did capture this on Wednesday. :)

Willow River Falls in Wisconsin is one of my favorite waterfalls and I usually visit it each fall when I come back to the midwest for fall colors. It's an easy trail, about 1 mile in and it descends down a couple of hundred feet as it goes. So going back up and out from the waterfall is my favorite part, I like having to climb uphill, it's good exercise! :)

I took a few shots, with this being my favorite I think.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

I like this point of view for these falls. I am almost surprised there aren't more fall colors along the river banks given the time of year.

I like doing the climb on the way into a place like this so I can go downhill on the way back :)

Thanks Alan! The fall colors are running late this year. But so many fall colors are in pockets, so there is no way to know if there was color down by the falls until I walked down there.

Nice looking falls. That’s a lot of water for this time of the year.
Thanks Jameel. I had the same thought that it looked pretty full, but this waterfall never runs dry. I have seen it with less flow, but not too much less then this.

A bit early for fall colors? waterfall is awesome.
Thanks Murali.

It's hard to say with the fall colors in the upper Midwest. Last year at this time the leaves had turned color. But this year, not so much. It's that way in all of the Midwest. I had heard it was because they never had a cold snap below freezing. The weather has been to warm.
