Yesterday morning when I got back off from dropping the 2 oldest grandkids off at high school, I noticed a lot of bees buzzing around the sunflowers that line the driveway by where I park. So I spent about a half hour at about 8am photographing the various sunflowers with bees on them. I was going to just process a bunch and post them all, but this was the first one I clicked on to process this morning and I thought it was cool enough to post on it's own.
I shot this at f8 and 214mm on the 50-400mm Tamron. But looking back maybe I should have gone up to f10 or f13 for increased DOF. I hadn't plan on taking any images at this angle to the subject, so the shorter DOF of f8 shows through. And while I would have preferred the whole flower to be in focus, hopefully the incoming bee distracts the eye visually from that? Or maybe the shallow DOF just works as it is?
All comments are welcome,
