when close gets too close

Annoying when you see these on your monitor at home when you were expecting a full view. Neat colors on the gallinule. That stork is a remarkably ugly bird.

Been there done that Joe. Have you tried rescuing the images in photoshop with generative expand? For minor additions it works well although the addition is low resolution.

Yep, 2 good examples. I don't shoot birds much, but I have to keep remembering to shoot wider and just crop, as the birds moved faster then my hand does to zoom back.

That Wood Stork is one crazy looking bird. It looks like it was carved from wood.

I find these experiences to be an opportunity to be creative and show off some detail of the bird. Maybe feather patterns, beak and head, part of a wing, can make for some very interesting compositions. Have fun with it!

I don't know Alan, they're so ugly I like them. ;)

with all of the negative feelings going twards images with AI in them I'm avoiding that route.

It's a double edged sword Jim. too much room and you loose detail in the Image.
that wood stork is one hideous monster.
those poor storks have a bad rap, I kinda like em.:)

100%, it's the unfortunate times when you were not expecting it.

We’ve all been there, Joe! I get pixel-greedy too. I crop almost every shot, and when I do clip wings, I don’t fight it—I embrace the crop and go even closer.
