My contributions today are five photographs of the exquisite Wood Duck. These photographs were taken at Bubbling Ponds about 20 minutes from my Arizona home. Wood ducks are found across North America, thriving in wooded swamps, ponds, and rivers where they forage acorns, seeds, insects, and aquatic plants. Known for their adaptability, they can navigate tight spaces, thanks to their compact size and agility.

Wow - those are some great captures of this beautiful duck family. The first image of the landing female where the feet are just millimeters from the surface is amazing timing.

Northern Shrikes are very rare birds in my area. Even the loggerhead is hard to find here. Two great shots, Trent. Envy envy envy

That's a nice shot, Alan, Here's a fun fact for you: Male and female Canada geese have different pitches in their calls, helping them recognize each other. Their calls are often heard in quick succession, almost blending into one. If you listen closely, you can pick up the male’s deeper call followed by the female’s higher one, creating a duet-like sound. This synchronized calling strengthens their bond.
