Little Doggies + 1 new shot

A small member of the Dogwood family Cornus canadensis is also known as Creeping Dogwood. This little flower is about 2" tall at best but still has the distinctive flower shape as the full grown trees that put on nice displays this time of year. This one is fighting for space with the Persian violets that have commandeered most of the open space at this end of our backyard.

C&C always welcome.

Edit: Jameel wanted to see some raindrops and all I needed was a break in the showers so I ran out and grabbed this capture:

How interesting Alan. I really like this first off.

But it's interesting how full the leaves are and how white and fresh the flower looks. I am most used to the Dogwood trees that bloom in Sequoia and Yosemite and when the blooms look this fresh there are no leaves on the tree really. And by the time the leaves do get this big, the flower is starting to look worn out. So that's an interesting difference.

Thanks Jim - there are a lot of dogwood trees in this area ranging from white to red blooms and most have full leaves along with the blooms so this is more of what I am used to seeing. The dogwood family is pretty wide from little plants like this to ones that are closer to shrubs and then up to larger trees so differences in how they bloom wouldn't surprise me at all.

Very nice small scene. This looks fresh and the only thing that would top this is a few drops of water.
Thanks Jameel - I should go out and check this after yesterday's rains if I get breaks this afternoon. Shouldn't be hard to get a wet look right now :)
