One of my favorite things to photograph are early spring wildflowers. Here are three midwestern wildflowers that are among the first to bloom.

Bloodroot among oak leaves.

Hepaticas are one of the first flowers to appear in woodlands.

Doug, three beautiful early spring flower images you’ve shared—I especially love the bloodroot and hepaticas captures. Nice!

We are having a crazy winter. Very warm December with no snow. Record breaking cold in early January and now record breaking high. Maple Creek, a town in southern Saskatchewan had a temperature of -48 C (-54 F) one week and a record high for the whole province on January 30 of +21 C (69.8 F). It was warmer than Florida!
Since mother nature can't make up her mind, who am I to argue.

Same bridge, different day.

Trent, great subject with two very different “looks”—the first snowy bridge photo with the train’s cast shadow obscuring the pedestrian is very interesting with the shallow depth of field and blowing snow. The serene second image is beautiful with the blue tones and warm sunset colors.

My thoughts about further winter!! :(

Larry, I think your first two images communicated your thoughts about six more weeks of winter convincingly enough! But your beautiful B&W image of this charming woodland winter scene shows you definitely appreciate this season’s photographic opportunities!
