Mid-morning colors in a remote desert canyon. Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada. February, 2023.
Thanks, Alan. I believe that is close to the area that you are thinking of. Kind of a tricky area as the addition of too much sky decreases the depth of the composition. I was in there for a while trying to figure things out and I like this take on things. I will be back someday to go into other canyons and see what happens.Looks like the area along Kaolin Wash just east of the road going up to the White Domes area. Not far from the Fire Wave. I like your take on the the colors and the point of view you chose for this composition.
In recent years I have seen maps depicting this as Pastel (or Pink) Canyon although I never saw that name when I first visited that area in 2012.
Thanks again, Jim. I will definitely make my way back at some point. I need to spend more time in the misc. canyons vs. the main trails.Very cool work Kurt! There is so much in that area between the Fire Wave and White Dome. It's a fun area to just walk around and explore. There are a couple of trails, but I have had the most fun just wandering around in there. Good work here, and I hope you get back there again.
