This is a shot taken near Thompson Creek Road in the Siuslaw National Forest near the town of Brickerville during some fall explorations in 2021.
C&C always welcome.
C&C always welcome.
Thanks - I was mostly looking at the bent branches with the fall leaves poking up into the moss covered alder trunks and a backdrop of ferns. A bit busy if you are used to wide open desert scenes. What caught your eye in this scene, Alan? I like how a couple of the trees bend, quite unlike the rest of them.
Thanks Ben!Nice textures on the trees
Thanks Jim - the tall straight trunks are alders and the bendy branches with the fall colors are maples. I wasn't really sure it would work as a composition when I took the shot but and of like it now that I have processed it.Hey Alan. This is cool. I like the ping pong effect between the larger, closer tree bending to the left with the smaller tree in the background kind of mimicking it, but bending to the right.
Thanks Doug - a flattering thought but I honestly wouldn't know where to start with such an undertaking.I am serious when I tell you that you should do a book on the PNW, Alan. Pat O'hara did one on Washington and your images are at least as good as his and I think better in many cases.
Thanks Jameel - I don't really do anything special. I just go and shoot what looks interestingAn image that titles itself PNW. You do have an eye for this. I have hiked quite a bit in environment like this and have take just a handful of images.
Thanks Roger - take careful note of the depth of the scene you are shooting when you take a shot so you can try to tease that depth back into the image in processing. Most of the time a scene that looks interesting in the woods looks flat when you first bring it up on the screen and leaves your eyes wandering aimlessly in the scene looking for the comp you thought you saw when you shot it. It took me quite a while to figure that out when I first moved up here after living in deserts for almost 50 years.Nice Alan, I have tried to shoot in the woods many times and always fallen short when it comes to looking interesting after I get them home. Very nice Image!
I can help. Thanks Doug - a flattering thought but I honestly wouldn't know where to start with such an undertaking.
