The Road Ahead

The road ahead is not always straight, and there can be storms in front of you, but are you willing to keep going?

Yesterdays storm as I was driving south along the I-25 through Wyoming. I picked a random exit so that I could capture the storm, but it turned out more perfect then I could imaging. I had expected to exit and just shoot across the rolling hills of grass, so to then see this road brought joy to me.

I would definitely keep going although stopping for a shot like this was a great plan. I love the winding road.

Wow. looks like a super cell. Great comp and wonderful drama.
I appreciate that Ben!

I would say it was a Very Super Cell. Once the bottom part turned solid gray, I decided the best photos were taken. I got back on the I-25 and that took me right into it. The rain was crazy, it sounded like I might be getting hit with hail it was hitting the jeep so hard. Quite a few people had pulled off the road and those of us still driving had slowed way down. In the middle of it I get a weather alert about the storm and that it could be having 1/2" size hail.

Wow Jim this is an incredible shot. Maybe one of the best storm images I have ever seen! The road in the foreground makes it very moody and epic.

I was about to say, "that's not I-25!" until I read a little more. Great downpours and curvy road to contrast.

Thank you so much Josh, I am humbled by your thought. Though I will say I was loving how it all came together and watching the storm move and get even meaner as I waited.

It's funny, because the I-25 is only about 100 feet away from me. It's amazing how angles can make things look different then they are.

Chance flavors the prepared.

Jim, wonderful capture of a microburst, you got the curve, the omnious down pour, nice succinct shot.

excellent shot, the roadway really adds some nice foreground interest that leads right up to the downpour.
