I do like wandering along the beaches looking at nice sea shells - especially when they are roughly 25 million years old

This specimen dates to the Oligocene epoch and is part of the Yaquina formation along Beverly Beach.

Thanks for the comments - this was one of the more intact shell fossils that the waves along Beverly Beach have exposed. Most of the fossils look more like the thin line above this shell which is a shell in cross section embedded in the rock.

This is a more chaotic shot of the marine fossil deposits.
