For this week's contributions, I have some photos from Friday's outing to Lake Pleasant.

Short-billed Gull (Larus canus ssp. brachyrhynchus) is an Arizona rarity and closely related to the Mew Gull. It is a medium-sized gull that breeds in the Palearctic, northern Europe.

Great Blue Heron.
In a boat, picking a background is quite easy.

Western Grebe: Love those lobulated toes

Horned Grebe in non-breeding plumage. Love that red eye and white pupil ring.

Wonderful Eric. My image is a very different. A Little Auk that was washed up on a beach in NW Scotland. It was alive and made efforts to move but was exhausted. We moved it into the nearby Marram grass out of the wind and the eyes of any cruising gulls. Ken

My contribution for today is.......surprise - more seagulls

I took this shot of a bunch of them yesterday morning while I was out for the sunrise. Gulls like to hang out where fresh water streams flow into the ocean along the beaches. In this case they are standing in Harris Creek.

This is from my daughters backyard a few days ago. I spotted these 2 and captured them first, about an hour later the squirrel I posted before came along.

Not sure what they were, but they seemed to be singing a beautiful song.
