The last three months have been the busiest of my life...between two jobs and a family, time has not been something I have had much to spare...but I have gotten myself somewhat caught up on several fronts...I thought I would get around to sharing some images from Petit LeMans this year that Jim had asked me to post over here...I am sure he thought I forgot!

#1: Mike Shank Racing NSX GT3...led the most laps for the season, and the most of the race until they got punted.
Sony a9-Sony 70-200 GM @ 116mm, ISO 50, f/13, 1/40

#2: A GTD Audi GT3 up the hill to Turn 11, the grit on the front of the car shows the battles they endure.
Sony a9-Sony 70-200 GM , the rest I am not sure of, don't have that file with me.

#3: GTLM Corvette down the front stretch, a new angle for me this year.
Sony a9-Sony 70-200 GM @ 70mm, ISO 50, f/18, 1/30

#4: GTLM Ford GT...love the car, love the background colors complimenting the car...hate the sound those cars make!
Sony a9-Sony 70-200 GM , the rest I am not sure of, don't have that file with me.

#5: The start of the race from the front of GTLM.

#6: Shooting through the crowd is the most fun for me...only Petit has enough people to do this.
Sony a9-Sony 70-200 GM @ 99mm, ISO 50, f/11, 1/20

#7: One of my favorites from the weekend...a new look, a new perspective.

I have not even finished editing the images from the year, but these are some of my favorites that are done. Thanks for checking them out...I am open to any crits or feedback...

Nice - I used to attend/shoot the ALMS races when they still had Portland on their schedule but alas those days are long gone. I like shots 3 and 4 with the nice clean panning action for each.

Travis.... hmm.... I am sure you are here in my contacts somewhere....

You have had a busy life! No denying that.

It's great to see these! Really incredible shots, I mean really incredible. To pick favorites almost feels like a crime. But I will go with #2 and 5.

To be able to shoot this seems like a lot of fun. It would be a blast to see and shoot races like this one day, totally different from a tranquil landscape scene.

Its been a while since they ran ALMS at Portland. Thanks for the feedback, I love good slow pans...but try to mix that in with some other stuff from time to time.

Wow, the speed, excitement and even the sounds are almost tangible. Really good stuff.
Thanks Mike, the speed and chaos is an element that I like to try to depict, sometimes it works, sometimes not...thanks for letting me know it comes through here.

Bring hearing protection if you do go - the sound levels are well beyond OSHA hearing loss limits.
Hearing protection is a must...I have custom fit ear plugs.

you are too funny Jim...I know, I apologize, but there is only so much time in a day, and when it starts at 0530 and ends at 2300...I am spent.

Its a lot of fun to shoot this stuff, thanks for the feedback.

Car and Drive (magazine) cover quality, absolutely awesome !! Loved them all. Any chance you would be willing to share shooting info, camera, lens's, settings etc.
Thanks

Very cool Travis! Looking forward to seeing some more.
Thanks Kyle. I will probably have a round 2 post, but need to finish a lot of other editing first...so behind.
2005 was the last time they ran ALMS in Portland. Easy for me to look up in my photo archive.
That is about what I thought, I remember them running there once when I first started to get into Sportscar racing.

Bob, that is very kind of you...I have aspirations of one day being able to shoot for just such a publication...I will go back and add some details to each about settings, EXIF viewer doesn't seem to work well here in the forum for some reason.

Thanks Trasvis
Really a big help, wouldn't have thought such a slow shutter speed, excellent panning skills, going to give it a try.

No problem. I forget that the EXIF does not load up here. I love my pans to be really slow like that, 1/40 to 1/50 is my start point and I try to go slower...the a9 assisted in that a lot this time out.
