One IR Camera on the Way!

Well, I finally did it! I placed an order to get one of my old DX camera's, a Nikon D7100 converted to 590nm IR at LifePixel. It will be so great to be able to shoot IR at normal exposures and not always with 20 second exposures I have had to do while using the external 720nm filter.

I had a question after I placed the order and left a message with Customer Service. I get a call back and it's from Daniel one of the Owners. That was super cool. He answered my question and then since I had him on the phone I asked a few more questions, and he was super helpful. When I brought up FocalWorld, he said I should sign up under their Affiliate Program, which would mean that if any of you (looking at @AlanLichty ) get a camera converted there at LifePixel, FocalWorld would get something back from it.

So, hopefully we get more people getting their camera's converted to IR in the future, but please wait until the Affiliate Program gets set up. :)

Congrats Jim, you're gonna have some much fun. I just scored an AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm that Lifepixel says that its one of the lenses they calibrate to, along with the 470nm hyper color filter. Hoping to get out tomorrow or Sunday to play around with it.

Wow! That’s great Sonny! The 18-70mm is a great lens! I sent mine in with the 18-200mm, I had forgotten about the 18-70mm. Oh well, the 18-200mm is supposed to be good for IR, it’s problem is it’s very soft beyond 120mm or so.

We are going to have a whole IR crew going here soon!
