**** While this is posted in the Landscape Forum, the Photos are most likely not going to be Landscape Photos. I urge everyone if you don't have any photos taken on January 1st from past years, grab your camera and go out and take a photo of something, anything and post it in this thread. It could be a photo of your party favors, your New Years food, etc...

It appears that I made a poor choice of topics for this thread. I have shot on New Years day for years when I was a college teacher with a wonderful break at the end of the fall semester until mid January. Right after Christmas I would leave for the west to photograph places like Grand Canyon, Bryce, and Arches so I have a stash of images from New Year days. I forgot that others didn't have that time.
It is the last day of 2020 and I am sure we are all thankful that it is ending. Before I announce the final task of the year I want to thank those posters who have made numerous contributions by their comments, posts, and suggestions that make this a viable place to participate in photographic activities. In no particular order, Amy Earl, Amy Nelson, MonikaC, Alisa, Jim Dockery, Timmeh, Kurt Harrigan, Jim Peterson, Bob Shuman, Mike Koopsen, Nilo Photograhy (Lenny), Barry Hamilton, Darcy Grizzle, Mike Mancil, Jeffrey, Lionking, Bob Denton, Pepper, Tom Narwid, Joe Colozo, Don LIttlefield, Craig Carr, Jim Sanderson, Dave Johnson, Sonny, Vieri, John Holbrook, John C, Colorado CJ, Tex Schneider, Rick (rfkiii), Chuckp, and Brian. If anyone here knows anyone I have missed please let me know.
The task for this week is to post an image that has significance for you with regard to a New Year in the past.
Mine is going to the Rose Parade of 2017 with my family. I had been to the Rose Parade when I was at USC but had never been with my family. It was an amazing experience. And to top it off, USC beat Penn State in the waning moments of the Rose Bowl game.
Here are a few of the floats:
