Today's Winged Wednesday is limited to one species, the Black-bellied whistling duck. I have seen hundreds of black-bellied whistling duck at the City Pond in Harlingen, Texas. Regrettably, the three times I saw them it was so windy, all I saw was hunkered down ducks on a hill surrounded by a fence. So, this is the first photo worth sharing. This goose-like duck is found in southern Texas and Central and Southern Florida. Their range extends from the southernmost United States to central South America. These photo were taken in Houston, Texas.

Many waterfowl run on the water to get airborne. This guy went airborne with one downward wing thrust and a simultaneous jump.

This sequence is composed of five photo. If my math is right, the sequence took .25 seconds (20 frames/sec)

Wow Eric! I don't think I have ever seen this bird before, what a really interesting bird! I love that sequence.

Have not had much chance to get out and about with my new R5 yet, but here is a quick shot of a House Finch on one of our bird feeders that I got while trying out the Animal Eye AF. It was in poor light, shot on the Sigma 150-600, and pretty heavily cropped. I am pretty pleased with the detail that it is holding shot at ISO 8000, my 5DsR creates what look like finger paintings at ISO 6400 :)

So cool Ken! Bee's can be so hard to capture, so I can relate to the amount of shots you took to get some useable images.

that's a fine shot for high ISO. Did you use any noise reduction software? That's perhaps the best bird photography camera ever made.

You sure can't beat that sequence image, Eric. That is exquisite.
