We were in Boone, NC (Oct 14) Blue Ridge Parkway - Grandfather Mountain. Have driven the rest of the Parkway North into Virginia. Fall colors have been very disappointing from previous trips. Trees bare, leaves just turning brown, yellows muted, virtually no color “pop”. Did have a spectacular sunset last night, but not because of great foliage. Any alternatives that are less than 300 miles away ? Currently in Lexington, VA. Frustrating, as this is often a great area and this is prime leaf time. Michigan was great, where we came from a week ago. Parkway is also very busy for a week day, must be Covid. Thanks.
