Black Necked Stilts

Interesting critters - I like the first one with the clear profile of its markings but the smooth reflections in the second one take it to another level.

I almost commented on the leg colorings but then noticed that the second image appears to be B&W.

Edit: My bird books only show one variant of black necked stilt and it has orange legs.

Thanks guys for the comments. A few words on our stilts though from Sibley's.....

The Sibley Field Guide To Birds Of Western North America:
Black-Necked Stilt
(Himantopus Mexicanus)

“Common but somewhat local on shallow still ponds with muddy bottoms and grassy edges. Usually in pairs or small groups. Walks delicately, tilting forward to pick food with needle-like bill. Slender shape, black and white plumage, and extraordinarily long _RED_ LEGS_UNMISTAKABLE.” (Emphasis added) The second is, as noted, a B&W.
