Its Wednesday so time for another waterfall pile on thread.
Doug posted a link to a neat history of a small grotto along the Historic Columbia River Highway named Shepperd's Dell a couple of weeks ago (Shepperd's Dell). I have stopped there just about every time I have driven along that roadway but had never seen the full story behind the place. Turns out that the property that George Shepperd donated for the highway also included a small unnamed stream nearby so I decided to dig out some shots of it. I have posted a version of the second image before but toss in another version for today.
A midwinter view of the stream - hard to see through all of the leaves in the summer:
And one showing the historic stone guard rails for scale:
Shooting this water feature isn't exactly the safest thing to do since the roadway is rather narrow with a blind turn nearby and no road shoulder at all. Not something to try on a crowded weekend
Pile on with your own falling water.
