It's been snowing on and off for the past few days. Now comes the cold . . . by Tuesday through next weekend highs will be in the single digits.

OK - that's cold and it looks like it in these images. Are the lines out on the ice from people wandering around on it? They don't look natural.
The patch of cold air heading your way is going to impact a lot of us who are going to be at the edges of it but not with temps as low as what you will see in the heart of it. You will likely be colder than folks up near the arctic according to the weather droids.

If you had any concerns about flying in cold weather I think this discussion on the Mavic Pilots forum might lay that to rest.
Neat images, we are about 10 degrees warmer than you and had a bit of snow here and more in the mountains

Those lines are just natural cracks in the ice from freeze/thaw. Yeah, the Low that brought us this snow was spinning and centered right over us but as it's now moving east, it's dragging arctic air down over us. And yes, I have flown my drones in cold weather many times. You just need to watch your battery. I typically keep that batts as warm as possible and fly as soon as possible once outside. Never had a problem in the cold.

Neat images, Bob. Those cracks remind me of my childhood when I would ice skate across the lakes in my area. As I was skating you could hear the ice cracking (it is an ominous sound) and it would make me skate faster to make sure I wasn't going to get my skate caught in any cracks or fall through the ice in the thin ice areas.

Sorry for the late reply . . . been a bit busy of late. Thank you. Yes, the sound of the ice moving can be haunting, especially if on the ice during darkness.
