Wild Horse Surprise

We had spent several hours glassing and trying to approach in a 4X4 and on foot a small herd of wild horses east of June Lake California not far from the Nevada border. No matter how stealth we tried to be the herd would not allow us to approach closer then 1/2 mile in an area of high desert sage which gave us good cover but not enough to fool the herd. We were walking along Adobe Ranch Road (a 4X4 trail) back to our truck when out of no where this wild horse bolted from it's resting place startling us and it's self.

Sounds like these specimens are quite wary of humans unlike the ones Darcy has been shooting.

From what we could tell through our spotting scope they all looked pretty rough and wild.
