Which one?

I had my SeeStar out yesterday to capture the sun. I hadn't done any Solar imaging in a while and thought I better do some more practicing.

The sun is obviously very bright. The Seestar includes a Dolar filter with it, that you can put on when imaging the sun. This type of filter gives the sun the orange cast. There is another type of filter material one can use and the sun then comes out more white, devoid of color.

When processing these, it's amazing how adjusting the highlight recovery or the exposure can change the gradient of the color in the sun. I will post a few options and see which you prefer. I haven't made up my mind yet on exactly what style I prefer best.

Thanks!

#1 - Original with just a little sharpening.

Do you have any options to use the type of filter is kiwiapple using to get the more textured surface of the sun in his shots? As an example here is one of his posts of the more textured sun from 5/2023.

From your posts above I would go with #1 as having the most surface texture.

Thanks Alan. What James posted wasn't just a filter it was taken with a Solar scope. That's at least $1200 and probably more.

I have looked into buying a Lunt scope, it's the most common manufacture for Solar scopes. Not only can those scopes get the Solar surface, but they can capture Solar flares which is so cool.

With the SeeStar, the only other option is to use the other type of Solar film, I don't recall the name. I think it's made by Baader.
