I saw this landform on Cow Dung Road in the Mars Research Station area near Hanksville, Utah. I semi-circled the subject taking shots but when I was processing them, I couldn't decide on a winner. Can you fellers help? I'm looking mainly for opinions on the compositions.

I really wanted to pick more than one so making me choose wasn't easy. I like #1 and #5 for different reasons and mostly ended up eliminating the others for one reason or another. #2 is unique but the perspective down't quite make for a balanced comp for my eyes. #3 was a close contender for me while #4 has what to me was a compositional problem where the point of view left the subject capstone almost feeling like it was perched on the mound behind it.

And I was there.

#2 has the cleanest isolation of the rock .

# 1 has a neat alignment of the lower rocks with the main subject, but the subject is less prominent and the left side mound is competing with it.

#3 is the nearest contender to 1 and 2.

I have to go with 2.

I like #2. That is by far the best composition because you have eliminated all of the distracting features competing with your focal point.

By the way, this is an excellent use of this forum. I had thought of doing a poll myself but was waiting for a bit more traffic here. It is starting to go now and I will definitely use this forum for polls or just plain old critique. This would have been a great place for WB advice.

Ben, the Poll function seems perfect for this forum.
