When the Rain Stopped

Things have been a little on the damp side around my area for the past few days and yesterday there were finally some breaks in the rain so I sent my drone up for some views of the aftermath. Right around where I live is on top of an ice age flood plain so no homes are in danger of present day flooding but our local greenbelt park is only a couple of feet above sea level and shows a very different story. If you view this at 100% you can barely make out the real channel of Salmon Creek which is only about 15' wide while the whole greenbelt park is under water. Normally there are a couple of overflow ponds during the winter months that usually have quite a number of ducks, geese, and swans that fly in for the winter along with egrets and herons that are year round residents. In this case it all turned into a temporary lake that extends all the way out into a bloated Columbia River.

C&C always welcome.

Nice view. Things don't look so bad compared to the images from our area with many neighborhoods submerged after some levees broke.

Thanks - there are a lot of places down in the Portland area and farther south in Oregon with suburbs that are dependent on levees with flooding issues right now. This greenbelt is a county park so there are no houses down in the bottomlands.

That image just feels wet! And yeah, you guys got a lot of water.
Thanks Jim - walking around my yard feels like I am stepping on a sloppy sponge and that's when I am avoiding the puddles. I have measured over 8" of rain so far at my house this month.
