When the Cloud Cover Broke

Mt. Rainier from Reflection Lakes - the sky was almost completely covered with clouds last week when Jameel and I stopped in at the lakes but we decided to wait out the sunset just in case the clouds went away at the last minute. That wait paid off and this is the scene just after the clouds broke up. The little lenticular at the top of the peak stuck around for the sunset colors that were yet to come.

There you go! That's a sweet one. Good thing you stopped by there. It's one of my favorite spots, though it seems whenever I stopped there in the past, it was always covered in ice.

Thanks Jim - calmer water would have been better so its easy to see why Jameel decided to scramble down to the small edge pond visible at the bottom of the frame here to get his reflection shots.

That was a fun moment to see the clouds clearing. And you are right in that I went down to get the reflection in the small pond as the rest of the lake was anything but still.

Thanks Jameel - you were still up top when I shot this but not for long.

What a wonderful mage, Alan. I love the color in the foreground.
