In all fairness to her, she went to Zambia to hang out with her friend in the Peace Corp.
It was wonderful for her, and worrisome for us. But the time of her life. Some great adventures.
BUT, dads not allowed.
I have not been up there. I typically stay away from Eagle Creek since it is far and away the worst place in the Gorge for car break-ins. The parking area is quick access from the freeway but just sheltered enough to be out of sight from I-84 as well as the trails. The parking lot is covered with broken car window glass.
I don't understand in that location then and others where there are lot's of car break ins, why not install 2 or 3 cameras there and plaster a few signs up there letting these criminals know they are being recorded? It really can't be that hard to do in todays technology age.

The trailheads along the historic highway are much harder to access and flee from compared to Eagle Creek with direct freeway access. Its calling card is the fact the parking area is out of sight from the freeway and all of the people using it are up the trail hiking. There are signs warning about break ins but that's the extent of what the Forest Service has done. People have tried a lot of different approaches including leaving their cars unlocked and notes on the seats describing that there is nothing for anyone to steal. Tweakers have been known to smash up cars like this just because they were frustrated there was nothing to steal.
The way I see it is that there are plenty of other places to visit in the Gorge.
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
