I took a 20 minute time lapse with my Iphone 12 pro max this afternoon. Trying to get it to my computer is tough. I have Google Drive and have put a few test image and one brief TL up. But this TL just seems to be setting there. When I start the upload, it says preparing. But it's been stuck for at least 2 hours.

I tried Icloud, and have it loaded on my PC but it is not connection to my Icloud account.

I got a message that I need to be connected to a wifi and be plugged in. Not sure this is a great option for Videos. Too bad I cant download direct to a card or my computer.

Thanks Jameel. I looked a couple of them and was discouraged by the negative reviews. I will keep looking.

Hey Ben, Jameel is a genius! I actually have bought some of those. Let me see which one I last got, it works great. I will link it when I find it.

Thanks Jim, I will order one and give it a try. I tried another upload last night with internet connection and power plugged in. In the morning I got a message that the upload failed. I then tried uploading to Icloud. and the playback on my Ipad is really poor as it's just a link and has to stop to retrive data.

So far. the TL is shaky, probably because it was windy and the tripod adaptor does not grab the phone as secure as a normal camera mounted device.

The playback is super slow, has something to do with how Iphones do TL. I would need to bring it into Movavi to adjust the playback speed. This was only 20 minutes of shooting and they reccomend keeping them to 20-30 minutes. They do not provide much control over things like intervals or exposure.

I have read reviews on other flash drives that say they don't work well for large files. My experience makes me think this is an Iphone limitation.

Sounds good Ben. I haven’t paid attention to file sizes, but it would copy all of my photos and videos. The app you will use is called Y-Disk. Again, the app works but you could have to fumble through a few menus to get it to download just the files you want and not download all of the photos on your iPhone.

That’s interesting about the Timelapse on the iPhone, I haven’t tried it since the iPhone doesn’t have stabilization for it, the GoPro is what I use for that.

You can get aps that add controls to shooting TL with the Iphone. I am told that the Iphone 12 pro X does 4K video. I just wanted to see if it was an adequate replacement for the R5. I would prefer to be using the R5 for stills and or MW or other stuff rather than TL and my 5DSR is not good fort TL. It looks like the Iphone has exposure smoothing. So when I get the yDisk I will experiment with downloads.

I already uploaded a short TL and had it in Movavi. The format is MOV so it works seamlessly once in the computer.

My new 12 v refrigerator arrived today so now I nee to learn how to install and use it. No more ice.

Ben, I think I can confidently say there is no way an iPhone is going to replace your R5. It might be 4k on the future iPhone, but it's a tiny tiny sensor.... I don't see how it could be a match for your R5.

But maybe I am wrong? it will be interesting to see the amount of detail you have once you get it onto a full size monitor. And if I am wrong, that will be a great way for you to do timelapse.

But 4K is a a small size for a 45MP sensor. No matter, my R5 is for regular photos, overkill for TL. I might still sell my 5DSR and see if I can save up and get an R6 as my TL camera. Or maybe even an RP.
