Tunnel View Morning

I made a quick trip to Yosemite valley this weekend looking for fall color. The maples were on great display and with the recent rains the waterfalls were strong. I tried my hand at shooting sunrise at Tunnel View and was happy to see some clouds pickup up some color in the distance. I have some tighter views that I like with just El Capitan, Half Dome, and the clouds but figured I'd start with this one showing the whole valley.

Any thoughts are welcome.

This looks super cool Kyle! I sure like the look of it.

Is there still any water flowing down El Capitan in Horsetail Falls? I saw some photos right after that river of rain passed overhead there and some people were able to photography Horsetail Falls on Fire as the angle of the sun is the same as it is in late Feb.

As of Friday night Horsetail falls was bone dry. That didn't stop people from lining up at the popular spots to photograph it anyway. I decided there were better ways to spend my time (Half Dome sunset image from Sentinel bridge coming up soon...)

Very nice result and some nice fall color. I am surprised that all that rain didn't do anything for Horsetail Falls but the band of moisture was fairly narrow and away from the primary "atmospheric river" wasn't that wet at all.

From what I've seen it was flowing a couple of days ago. It also has a really small drainage. Yosemite, Vernal and Bridalveil were all flowing with practically spring volumes.

Yeah, for sure if it was already dry, no sense in wasting time there. I didn't think it would last more then 2 or 3 days max, but hadn't heard anything beyond the initial report.

Great work, and a wonderful teaser for what I am sure will be more fantastically captured views in the upcoming continued set form the magical location!
