i setup the tripod and grabbed a few shots before a bald eagle decided to pop up out of nowhere and chase this thing and a dozen or so of it's buddies off. and it crapped on my car too.

That's a shame the Bald Eagle scared the bird off and added insult to injury by defacing your car. Did it stick around long enough for you to capture?

thanks alan. i don't think the eagle was after them. but they weren't waiting around to find out. i wouldn't have minded the little birds crapping on my car but the eagle damn near covered my entire windshield.

thanks douglas. i'm not sure if any of the swallows nest there or not. i haven't seen them in this area of the refuge before.
