Traditional Death Valley Dunes

This is from a few weeks ago. The winds had been howling for a day or so, which was great for erasing foot prints, but not so great for shooting. But just as I was leaving in the early morning the winds died down for about an hour or so giving just enough time to get out to the farther section in Mesquite Dunes before out of no where the wind jumped back up to 30mph and it was time to head off the dunes.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

I love the cleanliness of the dunes and the comp. Classic in every way. Nice image Jim.

I like the clean lines in the sand and how you used the curves of the dune peaks for this comp.

You just reminded me to put some safety goggles in my RV now that I am home again.

Thank you Alan. :)

I prefer safety glasses, they are easier to look through the view finder with, but since you wear glasses, safety goggles might be your only choice. Either one should definitely be with you at all times, they can come in handy more times then you might realize.

Beautiful tones, classic for sure. As a tele landscape shooter I'm always looking for multiple compositions within the wider landscape - I see a very nice tighter composition here concentrating the S curve of the edges, cropping off most of the lower sand, some sky, and the left.

Thanks Jim!

I had the same idea when I was there, and did do a few tighter shots, not sure I did that exact composition, but I definitely went tighter on some shots to emphasize specific curves and bends.
