Thanks Jim, it worked out for me, the background was far enough away to blur out nicely. I think this was one of teh first birds images taken with my 5DSR and 100-400 mk2.

Nice - any clue what the species might be? Looks a lot like something from the sparrow family but the yellow tail and what looks like immature colors is throwing me off.

I never figured it out Alan. A sparrow of some sort was my guess. It could be a pine siskin
