The Sound of Silence

After noisily walking through the snow and setting up my tripod, I paused to take in the scene and fine tune and realized there wasn't a single other sound other than the quiet burble from the stream.

Both snow and fog smooth out the chaos that nature gives us, these are fine examples of this.
Yes, I can hear the silence Mike.

I like the choice of shutter speed here since it brings our attention to the snow covered forest instead of details in the water. I actually like the second one a little better just for the neat contrasts the snow covered rocks offer to the smooth water.

Hey Mike, now that is a silence that's worth listening to... :)

Very nice shots you have here. I like the first one the best as I like how it draws the viewer in. #2 is pretty nice also, though the branches at the top interrupting the tree trunks visually seems to bug my eyes just a bit.

Yes, Mike, I can hear the silence. Nice imaging.

Thanks guys, glad y’all enjoyed these. I don’t sell images and only print a select few, so I put them out so that others can, hopefully, appreciate what I was seeing... Mike

As a follower of the American composer John Cage back in the '60s, I love your title for this, Mike. The elements - trees, water, rocks and snow - all of which are mute and immutable, except for the flow of water which, with its burble, emphasises the others' silence - all come together in these compositions which communicate exactly what you propose by the Sound of Silence.

Perhaps the most eloquent comment I've received, thank you.

Beautiful!
The first stands out for me.
Me too, it was one of my first exposures and I felt it captured what I wanted, but I still snapped until my wife and friends hiked on down the trail without me. It was hard to leave. Thanks.
