On my way back to California from Texas (Solar Eclipse) I had lots of choices as to what to stop and see. White Sands is a place I haven't been for 3 or 4 years so I decided to swing up through it.
I don't know about you guys, but my goal when at White Sands is I want some nice looking ripples and sharp ridges and I don't want foot prints. The hard part is people are drawn to walking on the ridges like a moth is drawn to a light.
As I was working my way back into the dunes to get further away from the road, I was pretty hopeful. That is until I came around the bottom of a dune and saw a photographer guiding his female model to walk along the next ridge. By the time I got closer he was directing her to the next dune and ridge line. So I got some nice photos, but never like I wanted.
Fortunately the next morning I went out on the other side of the road. The dunes aren't as nice, and they don't go back as far, but as I quickly noticed there also wasn't any footprints! So I spent an hour or so wandering around between the dunes and let my camera do the walking on the dunes to get the photos I wanted. This is one of them.
All comments are welcome,
Jim
