The Road No Longer Traveled

I was traveling somewhere in New Mexico in March of 2024 andI found this while out exploring old highways there. I don't recall actually where this was, I need to look at my phone and find the gps coords from photos I would have taken of this on my phone. I spotted some ruins as I was driving that weren't behind a fence, so I made a u-turn and stopped. As I walked out the 100 yards or so to the ruins, I came across this section of road in the middle of the desert. It was kind of crazy to find. It looks like they decided to build a new highway about 100 yards away and just left the original road to go back to nature.

I decided not to Channel Swap when processing this, I wanted a bit more of an alien feel to it.

Nikon D7100 converted to 590nm IR.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

Definitely has that alien feel to it. Seems kind of a shame they just leave the old roadway but anything to save some $$ I guess.

It's like to going to Mars and finding some remnants of a past civilization. Sci-fi vibe for sure!
I appreciate that Michael, I did kind of have that feeling when I stumbled upon the road. I didn't even notice it at first, it was only after I had shot the ruins of the buildings that when I was walking back that I saw it.
