The Red Planet

This is also from the Tsankawi Trail in Bandelier National Monument in new Mexico from yesterday.

I realize this might only appeal to 1% of people (that being me :) ) but I accidently did the Custom WB before applying the Custom Color Profile and I was immediately struck by the blue/red color contrasts. So don't ask me why, but I just really liked it. I hope someone else might like what Mars could look like if it had vegetation, but if not I guess I liked it.

All comments (good or bad) appreciated,

Jim

Jim, most false color images are surreal in nature, some colors work better than others, and some just conjure up a vision. This works well in that regard. The sky in this one is especially compelling. The tree colors are not really far off from what they actually are. Nor for that mater is the soil.

The infrared red shots are incredible. This one Jim definitely one of my favourites. I've ordered a filter and if I like it I may get a 2nd camera and infrared convert it. Cool way to relook at familiar places.

Thank you very much Ben. I really appreciate your comments. I knew the scene looked cool, but didn’t know it was going to be this interesting in IR.

Hey Graeme, I really appreciate that.

i used a 720nm filter on my D850 for almost a year before I went and got a camera converted. It was fun with the filter, but a converted camera is 10 times the fun since it’s exposures are normal.

It will be awesome having you do IR too! I can’t wait to see your images.

I don't recall that I saw this when you first posted it but there were a lot of things I didn't see that day anyway. I really like the wild look to the sky with this scene and the nice juniper snag anchoring the foreground.
