The Perseids 2026

The Perseid meteor shower 2026.
This is a composite image taken during the night of August 14th, so just past the peak time, but I still managed to capture some. The shots were taken from my garden pointing SE with the Milky Way filling the frame. The meteors are moving towards the right of the frame, and notice how their origins all seem to converge at a point towards the upper left, past the 'W' of the constellation Cassiopeia. This is what we expect, as the meteors origin is in the constellation of Perseus, which follows Cassiopeia across the sky.

Captured with a Canon 6D MkII and Samyang 14mm lens. at F2.8
15s exposures, ISO 1600
Left to shoot all night, resulting in about 700 images, most of which were culled!

Wow, that is spectacular! getting the Milky Way in the frame, especially with that orientation, really makes this special. Love it.
