The Olde Swimming Hole

A scene along the Siuslaw River near Stagecoach Road with some fall color. There are a few scattered houses along the road but they are few and far between. For kids growing up in this area life is quite a bit different than what children grow up with these days. There is no cell service for about 10 miles along of this road with DirecTV and Dish satellite dishes being the norm. There are utility poles along the road so land lines are likely their best shot at internet connectivity. Old fashioned swimming holes like this one probably get a lot of use during the summer months. The swing on the right of the image looks relatively new.

Thanks - most of the big leaf maples had lost their leaves and looked stressed from a very dry August and September.

An interesting place to visit but not so much a place to live unless you don't want neighbors or visitors. At least 5 or 6 miles in either direction to the nearest well traveled road or cellular tower.

Thanks Jim - this was a road I first started to drive from near Swiss Home on OR36 when I still had my RV but I stopped when the pavement ended about 2 miles in. I decided it would make a nice side trip on my way down to Florence this trip.
