The North Fork Road

This is a shot looking up the North Fork Road along the Siuslaw River near Florence Oregon. Taken last fall on a slightly soggy day. The lower sections of this road go through a lot of bottom land along the river's path with several miles of farms and pastures but once the terrain gets steeper the number of dwellings dwindles quickly and the scenery changes to the dense forests you see in this shot.

Quite lovely road through the forest scenery, but it seems not wide enough for car traffic. Love the greens!
Thanks Michael - it's one of my favorite roads in the forests just north of the Siuslaw River main fork. Believe it or not my first trip up this road was in a 25' motorhome. Fortunately there are quite a few pullouts for passing as the signage along it warn that it is a one lane road and traffic (at least during the off seasons) is extremely light.

Beautiful scene. I was drawn to the moss-covered trees all around the road. If the road were not asphalt, the picture would remind me of a rainforest..

The road helps organize the usual forest chaos. Very nice scene
Thanks Kyle - I am a sucker for roads with shapes like this.

Thanks Peter - it is actually classified as a temperate rainforest with between 80" and 100" (200-250cm) of rain per year. There are only a few miles of asphalt ahead before it turns into gravel.

The S curve of the road is a nice lead in to the scene. Driving a 25’ rig through this would be quite an experience.
Thanks Jameel - getting hooked on driving into the woods like this is part of the reason I sold the RV. Driving a road like this isn't nearly as bad as trying to either turn it around or driving in reverse until I could find a spot where I could.
