The Mums Parade

Another nice display of mums right near the door of one of our local supermarkets. I decided to try something a bit different to get a little more depth of field into the mix and used the telephoto lens on my iPhone from farther back. This worked a lot better than using the default lens with a simple framing of the shot. Not sure what nursery is supplying these pots of blooms but they did nice arrangements with them. Each of these is a collection of plants in a single pot.

Thanks Beth - the pots on display were just begging to be photographed. I suppose the intent was for shoppers to buy them but my images will last longer than the blooms

Interesting. That first one looks like it was taken with a wide-angle lens.

So much color. I photographed California Condors the past few days and the only color they have is the face. and legs. Gorgeous photos, Alan

I shot some of these a few days earlier where I did use wide angle but it had a very shallow depth of field that didn't look good at all. That's why I decided to try stepping back and using the telephoto to get the same frame but with more depth of field. There are a lot less open blooms in the first one to begin with.
