The Division

I saw some cool clouds yesterday late afternoon, so I drove down to Downtown Greeley in Colorado with the idea to see if I could frame any of the old Grain Elevators or buildings that are on the East side of the Downtown area. There are maybe 5 or 6 old Grain Elevators, but sadly most of them have had modern sheds, silos and buildings built around their bases. But it's better then if they just tore them down.

So I worked for a while trying to line up buildings with clouds, I think I got a few nice ones.

This one shows the divide with houses on the left of the train tracks and the grain elevators on the right.

I did subdue the color trying to evoke a more old time feel. When I tried B&W the red bricks disappeared so I didn't like that as I like how the red bricks evoke a time past.

After about 30 minutes, I decided I had gotten it the best I could, so I jumped in my truck and headed to the West side of Greeley to one of my nature areas as I was hopeful the clouds would last through sunset, and it was sure worth the 30 minute drive to get to the otherside of Greeley.

Classic - the houses even have white picket fences and a brick sidewalk. Might be a tad noisy when the trains roll past. Those tracks look well used. B&W might have masked the progress the rust is making on those old grain elevators.

Thanks Alan. That's true, when I tried B&W the signs on them even seemed to diminish some.
