I just want to share with everyone 2 youtube videos that I believe will drastically boost my knowledge of Luminosity masking. I've been using them for over a year, and I understand the use case; however, I always had issues with a "muddy" or decreased contrast look around the blending edges. I never came across a video that would show how to avoid it.
Jimmy McIntyre has put out some free videos recently that have addressed this issue and are must watches for all Landscape photogs that use Luminosity Masks. He does sell a couple of plugins for Photoshop, but his tutorial videos are done with professionalism and he shows how to use LMs with and without his plugins. I don't mean to promote him, nor do I know him, but they are such fantastic vids, I had to share.
This first video handles the "muddy" look I would get using LMs at the blended edges...
