The bathtub

That's what my wife and I call this place because it's shaped that way in low water, and we can see it from our room at the Fireside INN in Yachats Oregon. At high tide we get this sort of show and I have tried to capture it since the late 1980's when we first started visiting here. This is my favorite.

Nice one - I have driven by that Inn dozens of times but have mostly noodled around the basalt "beaches" to the south of there closer to the town center. I like the clouds seeming to emanate from the wave spray.

At the time we started that was the only place that allowed dogs so we started by accident, but liked it so well we kept going back. There is a trail from the Adobe up to a beach about a mile distant. It used to be fairly wild and natural, but each year more homes would be there.

I have wandered from the river up to Adobe but haven't gone farther north. That whole roadway just up from the beach is lined with houses now. I used to stay in Yachats for accessing the Cape Perpetua/Cooks Chasm area but have been spending more time down at the Carl Washburne State Park area for the last few years. I wish there was more of the basalt shelf south of Yachts.

Right, I use Yachats as a base and roam up and down the coast from Gold Beach to Cape Mears.

That clouds look nice, but in my humble opinion, if you crop off almost the top third (eliminating the hot spot to the left) it also makes for a nice semi-panoramic, emphasizing those great greens on the rocks and in the wave.

Nice backlight on the splash and great clouds. I'd be happy with this. The crop suggestion is a nice idea too if that aspect ratio works for you.

I certainly like 16x9 aspect ratio. I will entertain this.

Thanks, a crop might work.
