Telephoto close-up focus stack

I was out on my deck today seeing what I could capture with my 150-600mm lens. For this I took a number of shots at 460mm, f16, to focus stack on the purple flowers and leaves up front. I took a final shot at 6.3 to use as a background that was layered with the final focus stack and blended. Focus stack done in ZereneStacker, with a few areas painted in with aligned layers later.

This looks very good. Did you spray the flowers or just let the NW rain take care of that for you? I like how you staged the area in focus vs. the soft background.

Thanks Alan. No spray (although I'm not at all adverse to using it) - natural NW liquid sunshine that fell last night.
We are certainly getting enough lately. We are just barely getting blooms outside in Vancouver so far this year so I wasn't sure if this was outside or in a greenhouse. I have used a spray bottle myself before but it's not usually necessary with spring in the NW.

Very nice, you have a great arrangement of flowers and did a masterful job of focus stacking. I have tried this myself with dismal results. I think you did good by choosing the f16 for the in focus area and the f6.3 to make an OOF area rather than just letting dof roll off do the job.

Hey Jim, your work turned out really well! Having water drops on flowers just always works for me, and the way you worked the DOF is really great.
